Ministry rubbishes rumours about spread of infectious bacteria in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Health (MOH) has denied rumours circulating on various social media platforms about the spread of infectious bacteria in the Sultanate of Oman.

MOH said in a statement :"There is no truth to what is being circulated about the spread of infectious bacteria in the Sultanate of Oman. We ask everyone to stay away from rumours to avoid legal accountability."

Recently, the text was circulated stating the following: "No one will eat a burger from any restaurant in these two weeks. There have been 10 cases of food poisoning due to (foodborne) botulism outbreaks, and they are still on artificial respiration. The common factor between them is the burger. It is scientifically proven that these bacteria reproduce in canned food and meat. "
